Trouble

By Gary D. Schmidt

Genre: Realistic Fiction

Tragedy and trouble interrupt Henry’s traditional New England family when Chay, a Cambodian refugee, is involved in an auto accident with Henry’s older brother. Henry wrestles with grief, anger, and racial tensions in the aftermath of the accident. Finally, without his parent’s knowledge, Henry embarks on an adventure to climb Mt. Katahdin, in Maine, a trip his brother thought Henry would never take. The story has many different conflicts that all come to a close when the adventure ends.
